Matthew Perkins is the award-winning filmmaker behind The Best Story. For over a decade now, Matthew has been helping brands and non-profits creatively visualize their message and tell compelling stories. To that end, his content has been featured on outlets such as The New York Times, The Today Show, Huff Post, USA Today, Digg, ESPN, Esquire, The Hollywood Reporter, Marie Claire, MSNBC, Buzzfeed and The American Image Awards. His thoughtful approach to storytelling gives his work mass appeal and a unique emotional resonance. Perkins also has a keen eye for recognizing and cultivating artistic talent, which has allowed him to build a solid network of project collaborators.
Hailing from Athens, GA, Perkins created his own major in film production at the University of Georgia, where he apprenticed under Filmmaker James Herbert for two years. His love for entertainment was also ignited during his three year tenure as UGA’s Hairy Dawg, "the nation's most well-known mascot." Performing in front of 93K+ fans every Saturday gave Perkins an uncanny ability to connect authentically with large audiences. Following graduation in 2006, Matthew's passion for telling the best story prompted him to move to NYC.
After directing a pair of successful short films, Perkins launched a Kickstarter campaign, raising over $100K for his first feature film, The Little Tin Man. The film had a celebrated run on the festival circuit, winning multiple awards before being distributed in theaters and nationwide on demand, where it was also met with critical acclaim. Matthew is currently in development on a slate of original film and television projects, while still working with freelance clients.
